The Mid-Autumn Festival is, for the Chinese, a time to gather with family and indulge in mooncakes. Our Jesus Club family at Bethesda Frankel Estate Church took the opportunity to do just that!
We started the night by exploring the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The story of Chang’e and Hou Yi, though just a made-up story, reveals something true about the human heart: We all yearn to live forever. That story ends in tragedy because there was only one elixir of immortality. But for those of us in Christ, our story ends in unspeakable joy when Jesus returns to raise us from death to life forever with him.
After singing about the great hope we have in Christ, we got down to making snow-skin mooncakes! Angie, one of our JC parents, led us step-by-step through the process of weighing, mixing, kneading, rolling, filling, and finally moulding our very own hand-crafted creations.
It was a lovely family gathering, a glimpse of our perfect future together, forever.
