Thanks be to God, JC@LKBC turned 2 in July!
In 2 Corinthians 3:1-3, Paul said he had no need for letters of recommendation because the result of his ministry could be seen in the Spirit-transformed lives of the Corinthians – they were his letter of recommendation. We’d love to say the same for Jesus Club, that members of our JC family are our letter of recommendation.
We hear from some of them about their journey in Jesus Club.
Interview with May (Caregiver – Zi Rui’s mother)

Q: How has Jesus Club been helpful for you and your child in your faith journey?
May: I am a Christian and I attend Chinese service, but my son can’t understand Mandarin. He can understand a bit of English, but he doesn’t understand much if we speak too fast. Joining Jesus Club has been helpful for him as they teach via ‘bite-sized learning’ through songs, a Bible story, skits, the big idea, Q&A, art & craft.
Jesus Club’s setting is like a home – both SN (special needs) children and their parents feel very comfortable here. All the brothers and sisters in Christ are very loving and helpful. Zirui enjoys the sessions. Through the light-hearted learning method, he has come to know God and love God.
Q: Share your most memorable moment at Jesus Club
May: There was a skit about Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem. We had to make a palm leaf to welcome Jesus and shout “Hosanna to the Son of David!” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Interview with Sophia (Volunteer)

Q: Why did you want to serve in Jesus Club?
Sophia: Our world is not inclusive nor is it a welcoming place for all, but Jesus invites everyone to come to the table. When I saw the Jesus Club motto, “Because Everyone Matters To God”, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of. Every gathering I’ve attended has been a reminder of why I want to come to the next one.
Q: What’s your most memorable moment with one of our special friends?
Sophia: One of my first interactions with anyone at Jesus Club was with Tony. On my first day, he came up to me to ask what my name was, when my birthday was, and if I believed in Jesus, amongst several other questions. I was new but I immediately felt welcomed. Imagine if we all took the initiative to talk to someone we didn’t know and just asked questions!
Q: How have you grown (or benefited) from serving in Jesus Club?
Sophia: I have loved getting to know our friends, their families, and the other volunteers more. I have learned so much from them, and I have laughed a whole lot, too. I am a pretty anxious person, but every time I come to Jesus Club, I leave encouraged and feeling lighter. I think it’s because I am reminded of the simple but profound truths of who God is and the hope that brings.
Q: What is your hope for Jesus Club?
Sophia: That more people would join, come to know and share the love of Christ, and have lots of fun!
Interview with Caleb (Member with SN)

Q: What do you enjoy most about Jesus Club?
Caleb: What I enjoy most is the Bible talk as I get to understand God’s word better. It also helps me to grow closer to the Lord.
Q: Have you made any friends at Jesus Club?
Caleb: Yeah, I know a few friends: Tony, Ban Joo, Surya. Sometimes, we have McDonalds dinner before our JC sessions.
Q: What have you learnt at Jesus Club?
Caleb: What I have learnt from Bible talks is that Jesus performed many miracles. He has the power to do it because he is God. In the book of Exodus, the Israelites made for themselves a golden calf to worship. We should not have an idol in our own life as it will displease the Lord.
