Because Everyone Matters to God | Oct 2026

While our goal at Jesus Club (JC) is to make disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ among persons with intellectual disabilities (ID), we’ve had the great privilege and joy of sharing the gospel with their accompanying caregivers too, including their domestic helpers.

This year, JC@BFEC started a small group for our friends who are domestic helpers! After the Bible talk, Natasha – one of our volunteers – would chat and pray with Diana and Maricel about what they’ve learnt. We interviewed all 3 of them to ask them more.

Interview with Natasha

  1. What do you discuss during small group time with Diana and Maricel?

Nat: Our small group time is a little like speedy peer 121 meetings as both Diana and Maricel can comprehend and articulate themselves well. A typical session goes like this: ensuring we understand the Bible story and we’re clear about what it teaches us about God, then reflecting on how the talk shapes our life as Christians, and finally personal sharing and prayer.

  1. Do you think JC has helped them understand the gospel better?

Nat: We use a lot of visuals in our JC talks, so this makes it much easier for all of us to grasp and remember the big idea of the passage. The post-talk discussion questions are also helpful in ensuring we understand the passage rightly and respond rightly to it. For example, at a recent JC session, there was a question about how we feel when others reject the gospel. I came to learn that they actively do street evangelism on their off-days! We encouraged each other to persevere in sharing the good news about Jesus even when we face rejection.

  1. Share something that has encouraged you as you’ve led this small group.

Nat: I’m really encouraged to see their genuine love and care for their charges. Both Diana and Maricel care for individuals with autism and high support needs, and I can only imagine how challenging full-time caregiving must be. So it’s super encouraging for me to see them care for their charges with joy e.g. when Diana’s face lights up and she whips out her camera to take a video of Timmy dancing to his favourite song, “Mighty, Mighty Saviour”.

Interview with Maricel & Diana

  1. How long have you been coming for Jesus Club?

Maricel: I started coming to JC since I started work with my employer around 2020, so that’s  6 years already. ❤️

Diana: 7 years

  1. Do you enjoy coming for Jesus Club? If yes, what do you enjoy about Jesus Club?

Maricel: Yes, because all the people there are very welcoming and friendly. They never treat anyone differently; instead they treat you as family.

Diana: Yes I enjoy listening to the word of God, and to know more about our Almighty God and his son Jesus Christ. I have learnt a lot from coming to Jesus Club. And I also enjoy meeting other friends.

  1. You’ve been in a small group with Natasha this year! How’s that been?

Maricel: Having a small group discussion with Natasha is very good. We get to share and learn things from one another. We get to know one another more deeply also. And we’re very blessed to be with her also. She’s a very kind and bubbly type of person. Most of all, we get to know more about Jesus and I can say that our relationship with Him has become deeper.
