Celebrating Family and Friendship at Jesus Club | Feb 2024

With Chinese New Year and then Valentine’s Day hot on its heels, February has been a month-long celebration of family and friendship. It’s fitting, then, that in this month’s update, we celebrate the family ties and friendships within our small groups in Jesus Club.

Small group from JC@BA celebrating Christmas together

We asked Jesca (5th from left), a volunteer at JC@BA:

Q: How long have you been in the small group together?

Since 2021!

Q: Share 1 thing about someone in your small group that you love about him/her.

I love how Guang (3rd from right) has grown so much in knowing about God, and is able to remember the details of the Bible so well. He is always so excited to meet us too and it’s been such a joy to be around him!

Q: What are some fun things you’ve done together outside the JC meeting?

We gather mainly for meals to celebrate special occasions.

Q: How have you helped each other grow as Christians?

As we try our best to teach our members God’s Word through pictures and activities, they have also taught us what it means to have child-like faith. From how the caregivers care for their adult children, we’re also given a picture of God’s unceasing love for us.

We asked Tony and Roy, members at JC@LKBC:

Q: How long have you been in Jesus Club?

Tony & Roy: 7 months

Q: Share 1 thing about someone in your small group that you love about him/her.

Tony: I love to play games with Augustus.

Roy: Kim Heng. He is kind and he picks me up and sends me home every session.

Kim Heng, a volunteer, then chipped in!

Kim Heng: I’m encouraged by Roy’s presence in each session and in social outings. Though he doesn’t communicate much, being unable to express himself well, he would unassumingly be present. He also helps occasionally in the physical setup for each session by arranging the tables and chairs.

Q: What are some fun things you’ve done together outside the JC meeting?

Tony: We spent time at Bishan Park. We walked and played games there and ate McDonald’s together.

Roy: Bowling

Q: What do you share about in your small group time?

Roy: God always keeps His promises.

Q: How have you helped each other grow as Christians?

Tony: We love each other.

Small group from JC@BFEC celebrating Alex’s birthday. From left: Ben, Chris, Sibyl, Douglas, Alex, Constance

I asked Constance (1st from right), a volunteer at JC@BFEC:

Q: How long have you been in the small group together?

For about a year.

Q: What are some highlights from your time together as a small group?

Sibyl and I had the privilege of attending Alex’s baptism. And the joy of praying with Benjamin (a new member) to receive Christ on 13/9/23! Alex and Wei Keong were very supportive and also prayed together with him.

Q: What are some fun things you’ve done together outside the JC meeting?

We celebrated Alex’s birthday together. There was also a photography class organised by my daughter’s dance group, and Chris attended the course with me.

Q: How have you helped each other grow as Christians?

We share prayer requests in our small group chat, and we pray for one another. I also remind them of what we learn at JC, and we encourage one another to live it out.
